This starts a conversation, not a bill. The estimate that produces a firm number is 1 hour at $210 for a collision teardown or $150 for an RV systems estimate, and either is credited against an authorized repair.

What rolls through the door

Class A diesel pushers down to enclosed cargo trailers. On any given week there is a vintage coach restoration in one bay and a current Sprinter or Rivian in the next.

The part that costs owners money

We speak carrier so you do not have to

An adjuster writes a first estimate from what is visible. On a coach, most of what drives cost is not visible: wet decking under an intact membrane, laminate that has released behind sound gelcoat, a rail that is bent where nobody can see it. The gap between the first estimate and the real scope is where owners lose money, and closing it is documentation work rather than argument.

We bill direct with every major carrier and write the file so a supplement is supported by moisture readings, teardown photographs and parts quotes rather than by opinion. That is the whole job, and it is why a specialty shop and a general body shop produce different outcomes on the same claim.

We have written up the 25 patterns that cost owners the most, each with the specific action that prevents it.

The rate card is on the website

Most shops in this market will not put a number in writing until your vehicle is on their lot. Ours are posted, along with what the materials and the deposit structure actually are.

A few real bands

Roof work$250 to $18,000 plus
Collision$1,000 to $150,000 plus
Slides and awnings$400 to $8,500 plus
Onboard systems$200 to $14,000 plus

Bands marked plus are open ended because scope genuinely varies that far. The collision teardown estimate at 1 hour at $210 turns a band into a number, and it is credited against an authorized repair.

Getting here

Hacienda Heights to the shop, three ways

18.4 miles, 24 to 32 minutes

SR-60 west to Fullerton Road

The default route and the one most owners use. Fullerton Rd carries the grade gradually, which matters if you are towing a fifth wheel with a soft slide seal you do not want to load further.

21.2 miles, 26 to 38 minutes

SR-60 east to SR-57 south

Longer in miles but usually faster between 3 and 6 pm, because it avoids the Fullerton Rd signals. This is the route we recommend for an afternoon drop off.

24.6 miles, 28 to 45 minutes

I-605 south to SR-91 east

The wide load option. If you are moving a Class A over 40 feet or a toy hauler with an oversize permit, I-605 to SR-91 has the fewest tight signalized turns.

The shop is at 23281 La Palma Ave in Yorba Linda, not in Hacienda Heights. A building that can take a 43 foot coach indoors, put it on a frame rack and then move it into a paint booth does not exist in the San Gabriel Valley, so the honest arrangement is a short drive to a facility that can actually do the work. Owners also come from Rowland Heights, La Puente, Whittier, City of Industry, Walnut, Diamond Bar and beyond. All routes, drive times and what to bring.

Before you call

Questions we get first

Where is the shop, and how far is it from Hacienda Heights?

The facility is at 23281 La Palma Ave in Yorba Linda, 18.4 miles from Hacienda Heights and 24 to 38 minutes depending on the hour. The default run is SR-60 west to the Fullerton Rd exit, south through Rowland Heights, then onto Harbor Blvd and east on La Palma. After 3:00 pm, SR-60 east to SR-57 south to SR-91 east is usually faster. There is no Hacienda Heights location and we will not pretend otherwise; the whole shop is in one building in Yorba Linda.

Do you come out to the coach, or does the coach have to come to you?

It has to come to us. All work is performed at the Yorba Linda facility and we do not offer mobile service, roadside dispatch or on-site estimates. That is not a staffing limitation, it is what the work requires: a frame rack, a downdraft booth, controlled cure windows for membrane adhesive and paint, and lift access under a 40 foot coach. If the coach is not roadworthy, say so when you call and we will talk through transport and what a tow operator needs to know about tie down points on your class.

What does an estimate cost, and is it credited if I go ahead with the repair?

There are three priced tiers and every one of them is credited against an authorized repair. A collision teardown estimate is one hour at $210 and means panels come off so structure can be seen rather than inferred. An RV systems estimate is $150 and covers slide, awning, water, electrical and generator complaints. An in depth diagnostic is one hour at $285 with a one hour minimum for intermittent electrical and control faults. Charging for it is what makes it a measurement instead of a guess.

Why will you not just give me a price over the phone?

Because on an RV the visible symptom and the actual scope are usually different things. A ceiling stain is often a vent flange two meters away. A slide that binds is usually a room out of square rather than a bad motor. A phone number would be a guess, and a guess is how owners end up paying twice. What we will do on the phone is identify which assembly is in your coach, check its lead time, tell you which estimate tier applies, and give you the published price band so you are not walking in blind.

What are your labor rates and what else lands on the invoice?

Body and paint $210 per hour. Mechanical and electrical $260. Diagnostics, scan and programming $285 with a one hour minimum. Detail $95. Paint supplies calculate at $55 per paint hour and body supplies at $5 per body hour. Hazmat and disposal is $45 flat when chemicals, refrigerant or LP is involved. Parts at or under $100 carry 100 percent markup, parts over $100 carry 35 percent. Sales tax at 7.75 percent applies to parts and materials, not to labor. Those numbers are published, so two owners with the same job get the same rate.

Do you bill my insurance company directly, or do I pay and get reimbursed?

Direct, with every major carrier in the file: Progressive, GEICO, State Farm, AAA SoCal, AAA Enterprises, Mercury, Allstate, American Family, Wawanesa, National General, CSAA, Foremost, Liberty Mutual, Tesla, Cincinnati and AGWS among others. Insurance walk ins are welcome. You are responsible for your deductible and for anything the policy does not cover. Note that insurance billed jobs may be billed at carrier negotiated labor rates that differ from the posted retail rates, and we will show you that on the estimate rather than let you find it later.

Can I choose this shop, or does my carrier get to pick one for me?

You choose. In California the repair facility is your decision, not the carrier's, and a referral to a preferred shop is a suggestion rather than an instruction. Say plainly on the first call that you have selected your own facility, and do not authorize a tow to a shop you did not pick. Carriers are entitled to inspect the vehicle and to negotiate the estimate, and we handle that conversation with the adjuster directly so you are not relaying technical detail between two parties.

What vehicles do you actually take, and what is outside your scope?

Class A, B and C motorhomes, fifth wheels, travel trailers, truck campers, cargo and toy hauler trailers, Sprinter, ProMaster, Transit and Metris vans, EV cargo vans, box trucks, service bodies and municipal fleet units. Scope is collision, body, paint, fiberglass, structural, interior and onboard systems. Outside what this facility performs: engine rebuild, transmission rebuild, drivetrain work, DOT inspection certification and emission certification. The house generator is in scope. The chassis engine is not, and we will tell you that at the counter rather than after you have dropped off.

How long will my coach be here?

It depends on tier, and we quote the tier at authorization rather than a hopeful date. Light cosmetic runs 2 to 5 business days. Moderate body is 1 to 3 weeks. Systems and electrical is 3 business days to 2 weeks. Structural is 3 to 8 weeks. A full refinish is 4 to 10 weeks. Interior remodel is 3 to 12 weeks. Upfit and fabrication is 2 to 8 weeks. The variable that moves those numbers most is not labor, it is an OEM assembly on backorder, which is why the lead time is verified before you authorize.

Can you get real OEM parts for my slide, awning or appliance?

Yes, and knowing which assembly is actually in the coach is half the job. Lippert, Schwintek, Dometic, Carefree, Onan, Suburban, Truma, AquaHot, Kwikee, Hehr, Norcold, Furrion, Winegard and Dexter all channel differently, and lead times run from stock to about eight weeks. The lead time is verified before authorization, not promised and then discovered. Special order parts require a full non refundable deposit at order because the supplier will not accept a return, and that is disclosed on the estimate line rather than buried.

What should I bring on drop off day, and can I come on a Saturday?

Saturday runs 9:30 to 3:00, and weekdays are 8:00 to 5:00. Morning drop off between 8:00 and 10:00 is the fastest write up window. Bring registration and the current insurance card, the claim number and adjuster contact if a carrier is involved, every scene photograph including the wide shots, the prior repair invoice if the area has been worked before, and keys to every compartment including the generator bay and the wet bay. For a slide complaint, arrive with the coach powered and levelable so it can be cycled.

How does payment work, and when do you need money?

Jobs over $2,000 authorize on a 50 percent deposit. Jobs over $10,000 draw an additional 25 percent when parts arrive. The balance is due at pickup and no vehicle leaves the property until it is paid in full. Credit card payments over $1,000 carry a 3.5 percent surcharge, which is a pass through of the merchant fee on high ticket work rather than a margin line. On an insurance repair you generally cover the deductible and the carrier covers the approved balance, and public entity work is invoiced against the purchase order and cost center.
